Rangeland Revival Initiative

In collaboration with Strengthening Drought Resilience for Smallholder Farmers and Pastoralists in the IGAD Region (DRESS EA) project 🌍, the Supreme Council for Livestock, Fisheries, and Rangelands πŸŒΏπŸ‘ launched a unique initiative in Al-Salam Locality – Saba’at villages. The program aims to Promote agro-silvo-pastoral systems (dryland agroforestry) 🌱 and restore rangelands through seed scattering 🌾 and planting of pastoral shrubs 🌳, with wide participation from farmers and herders πŸšœπŸ‘©β€πŸŒΎ.

The project seeks to revive vegetation cover 🌳, promote environmental awareness 🌎, and enhance community teamwork 🀝 to ensure the sustainability of natural resources ♻️.

Dr. Tarek Abdel Mahmoud πŸ‘¨β€πŸ’Ό, Secretary-General of the Council, emphasized that this step comes in partnership with the Climate Adaptation Fund πŸ’§, the Sahara and Sahel Organization 🏜️, and the Global Water Partnership πŸ’¦, reflecting both international and local commitment to developing the sector.

The Executive Director of the locality, Mr. Maher Bashir πŸ‘”, praised the Council’s great efforts in developing the rangeland sector πŸ„ and opening pastoral routes πŸšΆβ€β™‚οΈ.

Meanwhile, Project Coordinator Eng. Youssef Abdelaziz πŸ‘·β€β™‚οΈ explained that activities will include scattering seeds 🌾 and planting Acacia 🌳, Talh 🌴, and Heglig 🌲 trees, with strong community participation πŸ™Œ that reflects the people’s enthusiasm to protect their environment 🌍 and secure the future of their livestock πŸ‘πŸ„.
