Sudan πΈπ© participated in the Regional Training of Trainers on Adaptive Livestock and Rangeland Management for Climate Resilience in Dryland Ecosystems, Tunisia πΉπ³, from April 6 to 11 π
, presented by the International Center for Agricultural Research in the Dry Areas (ICARDA) π€ in partnership with the DRESS-EA project and the Global Water Partnership (GWP) π§.
The training aims to enhance the technical capacities of trainers and practitioners π¨βπ«π©βπΎ in adaptive livestock and rangeland management methods πΏπ, thereby promoting climate change adaptation π¦οΈ, sustainable productivity π, and ecosystem rehabilitation πΎ in drylands.
The field program π commenced with a comprehensive assessment of rangeland conditions π and a review of restoration techniques β»οΈ. It also included field visits to several relevant institutions and sites π’, such as fodder and rangeland seed propagation centers π±, forest management facilities and nurseries π³, and a site managed by a women farmers’ association π©βπΎ.
The program further encompassed breed improvement activities 𧬠and the work of specialized departments. The activities concluded with an evaluation session and general discussion π£οΈ to formulate a set of recommendations π.
