Sudan participated in the Kenya and Sudan Blank Operations Workshop, a practical learning and simulation exercise focused on strengthening drought preparedness, early warning, coordination, and response.
The workshop brought together participants from Kenya and Sudan to improve the practical use of drought information and early warning products, including the interpretation of drought advisories and bulletins, dissemination of early warning messages, and the use of tools such as HUSIKA .
Through interactive exercises, participants examined institutional roles and coordination under drought management plans, mapped drought information and response pathways, identified triggers for preparedness actions, and developed practical responses for different stages of drought. The workshop also addressed response prioritization, feasibility, costing, and resource allocation.
A key component of the workshop was the exchange of experiences between Kenya and Sudan, providing an opportunity to identify practices that could be borrowed, adapted, or contextualized to strengthen national drought management systems.
The participation contributes to strengthening collaboration, practical knowledge, and the effective use of climate and drought information to support early action, preparedness, and resilience among vulnerable communities.
